Sustainability

For a sustainable future, together.

Sustainability is not a slogan for us.

It is a daily commitment that involves people, production, plants and the territories in which we operate. Being a cooperative means growing together with our members and customers, adopting responsible choices that have a real impact on the floriculture and agricultural sectors.

For years, we have been working to build a more ethical supply chain, one that is more transparent and more attentive to the environment.

A supply chain that starts with local production, grows through innovation and is completed by services that enable flowers and plants to reach their destination efficiently, with lower impact and greater value for everyone.

Our approach to sustainability

For Flora Toscana, sustainability means:

  • Social responsibility towards members, employees and the community
  • Environmental care at every stage of the supply chain
  • Controlled and certified production and sourcing
  • Short supply chain, to reduce waste and extend product lifespan
  • Continuous innovation, from new varieties to more efficient logistics systems
  • Economic support for members, ensuring continuity, fairness and planning
  • Fairtrade® products, a long-standing distinctive and defining choice
  • Growth of Made in Italy value, with low-impact processes and materials

It is a journey built on concrete actions, carried out consistently over time.

Our certifications and ongoing projects

Fairtrade®

Since 2006, we have been among the first in Italy to import and distribute Fairtrade-certified flowers.

For many years, we were the only Italian company certified in the sector. Choosing Fairtrade products means supporting fairer conditions, protected rights and social projects in producing communities.

GlobalG.A.P.

Our GlobalG.A.P.-certified production complies with international good agricultural practices: traceability, reduced inputs, food safety and environmental care.

Organic

Some of the cooperative’s product lines comply with organic farming standards: aromatic and medicinal plants, vegetable crops, edible flowers, vine rootstocks, scions and seeds.

FSC®

We use FSC®-certified packaging to guarantee the responsible origin of paper and wood.
A choice that reduces the supply chain’s impact and supports responsibly managed forests.

Our actions for the environment

LED lighting

In our operational areas, we use high-efficiency LED lighting, reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.

Energy from renewable sources

The two photovoltaic systems installed in 2010 and 2022 cover a significant portion of our energy needs, helping to reduce emissions and making our supply chain more sustainable.

Low-impact packaging

We invest in the research of lighter, recyclable and more sustainable materials.
The aim is to reduce waste, avoid over-packaging and improve the product’s entire life cycle.

Short supply chain: an environmental advantage too

The cooperative works with nearby, controlled and coordinated production. This makes it possible to reduce transport, ensure a longer-lasting product, use less energy for refrigeration and handling, and offer greater transparency to customers.

Social responsibility: people at the heart of everything

I Bambini delle Fate

Since 2005, we have supported the “I Bambini delle Fate” project, which promotes inclusion pathways for families affected by autism and other disabilities.
A long-standing commitment rooted in cooperative values and in the social role we aim to uphold within our local communities.

Financial support for members

The cooperative invests in the stability of its member businesses through fair policies, production planning and support during more challenging market phases.
A model that creates value for both people and the territory.

Sedex

Since 2024, Flora Toscana has been registered with Sedex, the international platform that promotes ethical, transparent and responsible supply chains.
An important step towards an increasingly traceable and verifiable supply chain.

Code of Ethics

Our Code of Ethics defines the principles, behaviours and responsibilities that guide our daily work.
It is a written commitment, shared and applied across every area of the cooperative.

We look ahead

Sustainability is a journey, not a destination.

That is why we continue to invest in innovation, new varieties, shorter supply chains, better materials and processes that combine quality, responsibility and respect for the environment.

We do this for our members, our customers and everyone who believes in the value of our work.

Packaging disposal instructions

To encourage proper waste management, we provide a simple guide to help identify materials and dispose of them correctly.
Please note that regulations may vary depending on the municipality.
