Cymbidiums are wonderful plants

Cymbidiums are wonderful plants

Flora Toscana together with Barrita Orchids has selected a range of Cymbidiums dedicated to all orchid lovers. These plants are easy to grow and produce large, brightly colored flowers.

Cymbidiums are wonderful plants, they have the ability to regenerate themselves every year and give flowers for endless seasons.

Here are some simple tips to get the most out of your Cymbidiums:

  1. Keep it moist.

Traditional Cymbidiums originate from species harvested from trees in the Himalayan region. In these regions it prefers a monsoon climate, with a rainy and a dry season. Plants therefore evolved to store moisture in pseudo bulbs, real water reserves, making the center of the plant moist so the roots never dry out completely.

  1. Flowering.

Although a Cymbidium plant looks like a group of bulbs that can be divided, they should never be divided. The pseudobulbs are all connected and share energy resources with each other. Division or breakage will affect the flowering of the entire plant. Where possible, repot rather than dividing the plant.

  1. Temperature.

To flower well Cymbidiums need a clears difference between night and day temperatures, they need to stay outdoors in autumn until night temperatures drop close to 0°C.

  1. Pests and diseases.

Cymbidium can be affected by aphids, mites and viral diseases.

  1. Fertilization.

A specific fertilizer for orchids is recommended to be used in the warmer months (June-September) to encourage their growth in combination with a suitable crop.

  1. Soil.

Cymbidium needs a mixture containing horticultural rockwool, perlite and charcoal, very well drained!

  1. Exposure.

Lots of light, but avoid direct sunlight. In fact, Cymbidiums can thrive in full sun, as long as there is moisture in the roots. Even if the leaves get burned by the sun’s rays in summer, they will still be able to produce many flowers.

So a few simple steps to always have a healthy cymbidium with beautiful flowering.

Trend of the Chrysanthemums Santi 2021 campaign

Flora Toscana’s All Saints’ Day ends with new records in terms of volume and turnover.

There are about 5,000,000 stems, of which over 2,000,000 chrysanthemums, treated in the few days before the holiday.
The cut flowers, together with the more than 300,000 plants, were sold on traditional and large-scale distribution channels throughout the country, with a general increase in average prices compared to previous seasons.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors Paolo Batoni: partners and collaborators, we contribute with passion to obtain the best result of the campaign so important for the production of many of the cooperative’s members >>.
<< For the first year Flora Toscana faced the campaign of the Saints relying on a new configuration of the structures, the result of the investment plan that has been undertaken in recent years.

The expansion of spaces and the upgrading of equipment are certainly strategic in order to be able to handle large volumes with ever greater efficiency and to be able to seize the opportunities present in the sector, revitalized by a favorable trend in 2021 >> comments Simone Bartoli Director of Flora Toscana.

50th anniversary of Flora Toscana

50th anniversary of Flora Toscana

An Unforgettable Party!

It was a very special party, full of emotions and moments to remember, difficult to condense in a video of a few minutes, but we tried. 50 years that the cooperative wanted to celebrate with members, employees, friends and their families.

The confirmation that the heart of Flora Toscana are the people! During the evening, thanks also to the sympathy of Leonardo Fiaschi, we retraced the 50 years of the company in a fun and playful way, but there was also room for the awards with the President Paolo Batoni and the director Simone Bartoli who wanted to deliver a plaque of recognition to the founding members and collaborators of Flora Toscana who have now retired and who accompanied the cooperative to this important milestone.

A symbolic gift, but full of meaning, which really moved.
